Some cocktails are loud. Some are complicated. The New York Sour just shows up looking good and lets the layers do the talking. Bright lemon, smooth whiskey, a little sweetness, and a float of red wine that makes it look far more complicated than it actually is. Classic whiskey sour… with a bit of flair.

What You Need:

What You Do:

  1. Add the whiskey, simple syrup, and lemon juice to a shaker with ice.

  2. Shake until everything is nicely chilled and properly mixed.

  3. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

  4. Gently float a layer of red wine on top. Take your time here. It’s worth the effect.

  5. Admire the layers for a second, then get to drinking.

Citrus-forward, smooth, and finished with a bold red wine float, the New York Sour is proof that a simple cocktail can still steal the show
