Some cocktails spend their entire existence trying to become “the next big thing.” The Manhattan never needed the attention. It figured out what worked a long time ago and stuck with it for good reason.
This is whiskey doing what whiskey was meant to do. Strong rye, vermouth, bitters, and just enough sweetness to keep the whole thing balanced without softening it up too much. No gimmicks. No unnecessary extras. Just a cocktail that’s survived every trend because it’s actually good.
What You Need:
2 oz.Indiana Whiskey Company ‘Rye-Centennial’ Small Batch Rye Whiskey
1 oz. sweet or dry vermouth (dealer’s choice)
Splash of simple syrup
3 dashes bitters
Cocktail cherry, for garnish
What You Do:
Add the rye, vermouth, simple syrup, and bitters to a mixing glass.
Fill with ice and stir until properly chilled. No rushing this part.
Strain over a large ice ball in a rocks glass.
Drop in a cocktail cherry and call it a day.
Simple, strong, balanced, and exactly what a Manhattan should be.
